KIMSHEALTH Hospital demonstrated exceptional capabilities in diagnosing and treating critical medical conditions as they successfully saved the life of Mr. Nasim Qureshi, a patient who presented himself with alarming symptoms of an aortic dissection
On the 7th of June 2023, Mr. Qureshi arrived at KIMSHEALTH Medical Center Al Khuwair, experiencing epigastric pain and mild numbness on the left side. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the attentive medical team promptly conducted an electrocardiogram (ECG) and sent laboratory tests, including a Troponin test, for further evaluation. To alleviate the symptoms, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) was administered
Within minutes, Mr. Qureshi's blood pressure to 90/60 (left hand) and the medical team responded by increasing the fluid rate and manually checking his blood pressure. During this critical moment, it was discovered that the blood pressure measured on the right hand was 135/80, leading to a suspicion of Aortic Dissection. Thus an ambulance was immediately dispatched and the patient was brought to KIMSHEALTH Hospital for further investigations and treatment by our cardiologist. The timely intervention of the cardiologist confirmed the diagnosis as aortic dissection, a life-threatening condition that required urgent surgical Intervention. The patient was later referred for further treatment and care.
